What I thought: Janet Evanovich takes a step back in this book after giving Twelve Sharp a different spin. I was a little disappointed that she decided to do this as I feel the book felt just like the previous books only this time mixed in with Dickie Orr's disappearance. Don't get me wrong, the book had many great moments that I thought were hilarious but I believe she could have taken a different path with book 13 and made it much different and better rather than somewhat formulated. The romance between Joe, Ranger, and Stephanie seems to be exactly the same as it has been for quite some time, perhaps it's about time to start giving hints about what is to come in the final book. I would love to see book 14 revamped and taking a different spin so we can peel away maybe some more layers from the characters and understanding their past even more.

What I thought: As I do agree with Chelsea on this, I have several mixed feelings and felt that the book seemed a bit off. I did enjoy it, however I didn't feel like this was her best. While I enjoyed the banter between Joe/Stephanie and Stephanie/Ranger, the whole Dickie disappearance was kind of a downer. Although I liked the bickering between Dickie and Stephanie (it was a hoot), I didn't really care for the whole storyline itself. Another fact that I enjoyed about this book was the relationship that seems to be growing between Tank and Lula. Lula is just one of my favorite characters and she has transformed so much from the first book. It's really great to see her evolve. (Plus it was really funny to learn that Tank's real name is Pierre!) I'm still torn between who I essentially would like to see Stephanie end up with, but I would like to see it all come around in book fourteen. Maybe one more night with Ranger will make up her mind? Or perhaps a proposal from Joe? I'd also like to see Stephanie kick Joyce's rear into the ground. That would put a smile to my face.
